Good comments from ROSH and Nevets Renyt...I haven't been to Icon is almost 18 months, but I did do a brief DJ stint there. The format at the time was 80's & 90's, so instead of playing the regular "radio" mixes, I tried to introduce extended or more current remixes of songs of that genre. Initially it was well accepted and they kept asking me back. However, there was a couple instances when I was doing my thing and then I was told to "quit playing stuff no one has heard of". Again, I was sticking true to the format, but just playing a remix of an old INXS or Depeche Mode song. I might add that we were told to not play any current hip hop or rap, which is exactly what they had me play. Don't get me wrong, I know many of the clientle were probably expecting to hear hip hop or whatever, so if you are playing something other than that, of course they are going to complain (read: you can't make everyone happy). Since I was getting conflicting messages on what I should be playing, I wasn't too upset when I didn't get a call back to DJ again.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the club has a bit of an identity complex. Here is this beautiful club and screams "big city" and yet it seems to be catering to a more "ganster" crowd. Nothing against hip-hop, but if I want to listen and dance to that I could pick any place in town and hear that. There is no place in town that plays electro / techno / house that I know of. I'm not expecting Chicago by any means, but I was expecting Icon to be a breath of fresh air.

John, see Jenna's comment above.

"And another thing, the bad language and the yelling, I bet if I followed you around with a camera at your work, I'd find you using the same language at some some point."

I guess you say this because it is true of you? Sheesh, I'm glad that I work with professionals who would never behave in such a manner and not where you work.

Don't know the guy or any of the officers but my guess is that you all cry about how they treat you but the first time someone robs you or breaks into your home, who is the first peron you will can, that's right...the police. Try working a day in their shoes and then you can talk your smack. If you dealt with dumb people all day long and then had some punk kid not listen to you, you would act the same way. Grow up and quit being so sensitive. And another thing, the bad language and the yelling, I bet if I followed you around with a camera at your work, I'd find you using the same language at some some point.

Not expecting europe, but a dance club where actual DANCE music, and not just rap/hip hop, is played. I have not been there, but all I hear about is how "gangster" it is. That's not a good thing for a "dance" club. How about some electro house or maybe even a little trance for pete's sake! It seems like any place around evansville, if they advertise "dance", it's rap/hip hop. What?! They think that is "dance" music?! Give me a break! Give me something with a 128 BPM and four on the floor. That's all I ask, and I think that is what Rosh was getting at too!

Exactly what I'm looking for Suzanne. Their paper menu shows a couple of the items such as the Low Fat Turkey Sub at 490 cal/5 gm fat & the Australian Veggie Roll at 286 cal/8 gm fat. I don't know how much less if you get them in a wrap which I did today. Yum!

When I was a kid at Central High School, we never lacked for something to do because we had the Community Center in the old Union Station. There was food, music, dance, bands, basketball out back and kids from every high school in the city. It was a place where all high school students co-mingled and got to know their counterparts from across the city. Is the Community Center no longer viable? If not, that is what the city of Evansville sorely needs. Get on it Hoosiers!

From Niceville, Florida
