Nothing to Do Tomorrow? Go Protest I-69!
I’ve been remiss in writing about the happenings with I-69 in the past few days. There were a few more arrests over the weekend up in Gibson county for blocking the entrance to an asphalt plant. It seems like a relatively peaceful form of protest with 13 people just standing around not letting trucks in. Unfortunately, that is illegal.
The fun continued with these folks, however, as they have refused to give their names to police. Without names, charges can’t be pressed and they shall forever be sitting in a jail cell. As a response to the arrests, friends of the protesters have been jamming the phone lines protesting the arrests of the protesters (how meta).
That brings us to tomorrow. There is a groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow morning at 10:30 AM near The Centre. Anticipating the arrival of more protesters, fencing has been set up to keep the protesters back from the ceremony. There will also be quite a police presence.
I can’t make it tomorrow because of a prior engagement, but if you are going, I want video, audio, photography, etc. If you shoot it, I’ll publish it.
Happy protesting!
