So, What Are You Reading?

It’s been pretty quiet lately in Evansville, so let’s have a discussion about the books you’re reading or have recently read. I’ve recently finished two books. I am a big fan of nonfiction and biographies, so I was quick to pick up Jim Norton’s Happy Endings: The Tales Of A Meaty Breasted Zilch. Norton is one of my favorite comedians today, and his book was an extension of his comedy. The book is a fun, easy read. If you’re a fan of Norton’s you’ll enjoy hearing the stories of his trolling for prostitutes. If you’re not, you’ll cringe at what a despicable human being he is.
I also recently finished Options: The Secret Life Of Steve Jobs. I received a pre-release copy of the book a few weeks ago from the publisher and just now finished it. If you’re a fan of the Fake Steve weblog, the book is much of the same. Options tells the story of how Fake Steve dealt with the backdated options scandal Apple was embroiled in the last year. I enjoyed the book for the most part, but after 200 pages, I was ready for it to be done. I love Fake Steve Jobs, but much of the allure is his commentary on current tech trends and the news of the day. Applying that same formula, but in long form, to a story from the past didn’t resonate as well to me.
I’m now moving onto reading Howard Kurtz’s Reality Show and Andrew Keen’s The Cult of the Amateur.
Hopefully you’re reading something with a big more literary value. Tell us in the comments!
Shameless Plug: My newest book, Getting StartED with Mac OS X Leopard, is available next Tuesday. Buy a copy!
