We keep our stories brief and to the point, and hope that your comments will go beyond that by giving you an outlet to discuss the topic. There may be situations where comments will not be approved and deleted. We reserve the right to edit comments when…
- the comment contains misspelling or poor grammar.

We reserve the right to delete comments when…
- the comment is off topic
- the comment insults the writer of the post, the subject of the piece or other commenters without any basis or fact. Insulting ideas, actions and even beliefs is usually fine. Just don’t insult the actual people.
- the comment is spam.
- the comment is contains excessive profanity or threats.
So after all that negativity, what do we consider a good commenter?
- A good commenter continues the discussion of the original post or a previous comment on the post.
- A good commenter is to the point and doesn’t ramble.
- A good commenter is accountable for what he or she says. If you are going to post a comment on It’s Evansville, use your real name if at all possible. If you wouldn’t say something to someone’s face in public, don’t say it on the Internet just because you’re sitting behind a computer screen with little or no accountability.
In the instance that we delete your comment, we try to e-mail you and let you know why. If you’d like to discuss it further, we’re available to chat about it. If you have any questions about the policy, e-mail Justin
