About It’s Evansville
It’s Evansville is a Website about the city of Evansville, Indiana. We’re located right on the edge of Southern Indiana, or on the banks of the mighty Ohio River if you’d like to say. We’re trying to offer a quick view of everything that is going on in our city: local events, community issues and our culture. We cover major news events in our city, entertainment events at local venues, art showings and more. We also have our original pieces such as interviews with local people doing interesting things, our weekly photography series In Focus and more.
We visit all the news sources so that you don’t have to. We then use what we find to write quick stories that are easy to read and summarize the topic at hand. As a reader, we invite you to continue the conversation via our comments section or, if you want more information, go to our information source to learn more about the subject being discussed.
It’s Evansville was launched in March 2007 by Second Gear LLC, a local Web design and software development firm in town.
How You Can Help
If you know of an event going on in town that you think we should know about either e-mail us a tip or use the anonymous tip box in the sidebar to let us know about it.
We offer It’s Evansville as a free service to our readers, but it does take both time and money to run this site. If you run a local business or event, please consider advertising with us.
If you’re a local photographer, you can submit photos to our site by tagging them “itsevansville” on Flickr. We attach a photo to our posts, and always give credit to the artist.
How We Cite Our Sources
It’s Evansville does not claim to be a member of the news media.
While we would love to have the time and resources to listen to police scanners, cover every local story in line with the paper and TV stations, we can’t. Because of this, we rely on sites like The Courier & Press, WFIE, Google and more to help us tell the story of Evansville. Anytime we write a post on It’s Evansville that has information gathered from a third party source we make sure to link off to that site in the post. Not only does this give the reader a place to possibly find more information on the subject, but it also does our part in giving credit where it is due.

When we use a photograph taken by another photographer, we always make sure to give credit at the bottom of the post. If they have a Website or Flickr account, we also make sure to provide a link to that so our readers can see some of their other work.

If you have any questions about our citation policy, contact Justin Williams with your concerns.
