“I Love a Piano” And More Broadway Coming to the City

1

As a transplant to the Evansville area I was stoked to learn that I can see Broadway shows right here in my new home town. I think visiting the theater is a great way to spend an evening, especially if you are going to see a classic musical.

Enjoying a live stage show is far better than seeing a film in the theater because live performances have the ability to really touch us and involve viewers in the story line. Seeing it live is always better folks!

If you haven’t ever been to the theater I would encourage you to give it a try. Theater is something everyone can and should enjoy. Whether you like comedy, musicals, drama or opera you’ll be able to find a great stage show that is right up your alley.

On October 21, 2008 The Centre is presenting a touring production of Irving Berlin’s “I Love a Piano” at 7:30PM as part of their Broadway and The Centre Series. If you are like me and enjoy music from the 1920’s – 50’s this series is for you!

“I Love a Piano”, the first show in the series is a captivating musical that portrays America through the eyes of Irving Berlin. The story line spans 70 years and includes 64 songs that tell the tale of how the piano made it’s way into the lives of Americans.

This cheerful, toe tapping presentation incorporates well known songs such as “White Christmas,” “God Bless America,” “Blue Skies” and “I Love a Piano” as the story line takes you a journey back to a simpler time and has a great story line!

The Centre offers two different ticket options, the 5-show Classic Series tickets or single show tickets. The 5-show Classic Series tickets range from $230 -$99 per person depending on seat selection and include tickets to each of the 5 shows in the series.

“Ain’t Misbehavin’” is the second show included in the series which is presented on December 10, “Oliver!” is the third show in the series on January 16, then “Bye Bye Birdie” is performed February 20 and “The Drowsy Chaperone” is the last show of the 5-show series that is performed on April 3.

If you are reluctant to buy the 5-show series tickets you also have the option to buy single tickets to the shows that most interest you. Individual tickets go on sale the day before the show and will vary in price depending on available seats and ticket demand.

As Evansville residents we have ample opportunities to enjoy a variety of shows at a number of theaters so get out there and give it a whirl. Nothing is more romantic than a nice dinner and a night at the theater! My Fiance and I have already marked our calendars and are saving up for tickets to our favorite shows, perhaps we’ll see you there. Give theatre a try, you’ll have a blast.
