It’s Evansville Updates
I’ve been pretty active over the past week behind the scenes of It’s Evansville. Let’s cover some of the highlights.
Wiki
Our Wiki project page for last week was the Photography Hotspots listing and we built a pretty decent list of places in the area to exercise your camera. The It’s Evansville Wiki had a few updates over the past week. Here’s the other changes from the past week.
- Photography Hotspots - Thanks to Chris Meyers for helping with this page.
- Evansville WiFi Hotspots - Thanks to Chris Meyers for helping me with this page.
- Oak Hill Cemetery - Thanks to Chris Meyers and Lori Spindler for building this page up.
- Evansville State Hospital
- Reitz Memorial High School - Thanks to Chris Meyers for helping with this page.
This week’s Wiki project is to focus on our local universities. I’ve setup stub pages for both the University of Evansville and USI and will work on expanding the content during the week and hope you can help as well.
If you’d like to participate in this week’s project, you will need to setup an account on pbwiki.com (our wiki host) and request access to the It’s Evansville Wiki . Once I accept you as an author, you’ll be able to edit this page and any other page.
New Photos Page
The sidebar on the site has always featured the latest photo uploaded to Flickr that was tagged as itsevansville, but there was never an easy way to browse other photos uploaded via the site. I’ve resolved that with a bit of a band-aid now.
The photo page pulls in the 15 most recent photos uploaded and and tagged so you can see what our local photographers are interested in these days. The layout of the page isn’t exactly what I want, but I’ll be resolving that in the coming months.
Social Networking Updates
I’ve neglected our social networking avenues over the past few months, so I took some time to update both the Facebook group and MySpace page with some fresh content and cleaned up design. If you want to show your support for the site, consider joining us on MySpace or Facebook.
