In Other News…

-
Evansville has been voted the best place to live in July’s Kiplinger’s magazine. The typical reasons were given: low cost of living, quality of life, etc.
-
More news on the Sir Beef front. The current operators have gone missing in action. The owner hopes to get someone in there to take over. I’m sure one of you fine readers would love to be in the roast beef business.
-
Remember when the city announced they would turn the McCurdy building into apartments last summer? We’re still working on that.
-
You have to be pretty ballsy to rob a gun store.
-
And from a bit up north, here is video of a scaffolding rescue from downtown Indianapolis yesterday afternoon.

Kiplingers needs to come to Evansville and examine the “hardly any traffic” statement. I agree with the rest of the article. I live downtown and absolutely love it.
I blame Jenna for the demise of the Sir Beef people. She probably broke their equipment too. We could turn it into “It’s Evansville’s Sir Beef!”

The only time the traffic in town frustrates me is on the weekend. Trying to navigate the east side on a Saturday is impossible.
I’d love to live downtown, but I have yet to find anything down there that is up to my standards and offers off-street parking.

I would encourage the folks who think Evansville has traffic issues to spend some time living in a larger city. You will quickly learn that traffic in Evansville is nothing compared to other places.

I have a 1300 restored townhome. not too impressive from the outside, but pretty nice on the in. I also have off street parking and a dinky garage. So, it does exist.
I’ve driven in Chicago several times. The traffic there is predictable. It seems like the traffic here is hit or miss. Today I made it to the bank in 5 minutes… then it took 15 to get back down. 1st st. I also hate the random road construction on side streets. Drives me nuts. I know its required and its for the good of the city…. but it still bugs me. I’m used to it now I guess.
