Showbiz Pizza: The Documentary
I remember going to Showbiz Pizza back in the late 80’s when I was a younger lad. It was in the present Chuck-E-Cheese building. I was always creeped out by the giant robot gorilla, and some 20 years later, I can say that I am still creeped out by the gorilla.
A documentary is coming out this fall that tells the story of the Showbiz band, the Rocka-fire Explosion.
By far the greatest clip is the guy taking the costume off the robot and walking around in it.

The 1st time I seen them (the Robots), I & my Hubby were attending a childs birthday party. I was shocked, it was neat and the kids loved it. Lol! Mann, Chucke Cheese had everything for a kids entainment!

I used to WORK at the Evansville Showbiz back in the 80s. Great group of people to work with…hated all the screaming kids coming in on the weekends. LOL

Oh and you (the author) say this:
“By far the greatest clip is the guy taking the costume off the robot and walking around in it.”
Actually there was a walk-around costume for Billy Bob (just as there is now with Chuck E. Cheese) for interacting with the kids and helping to deliver birthday cakes, etc. It wasn’t on the robot, but was just like the walkaround costumes you see at Disney World, etc.

You’re right! I forgot about Billy Bob walking around. I always felt sorry for that guy because he was being assaulted by 6 year olds.

I have been trying to figure out for years what is wrong with my 2 sons, one being your humble editor (Justin) and the other being a frequent contributor and column socialite (Cody), and now I have my answer. It was the excessive visits to Showbiz Pizza when they were young. My wife and I even had several of their birthday parties there. They were both deathly afraid of Billy Bob and the gorilla gave them nightmares. Sorry about that boys!
