Pirates Take Over Stadium

Kenny Chesney blew the roof off of Roberts Stadium Thursday evening along with Gary Allan. Gary Allan proved his status when everyone in the parking lot made the early trip in to check out his headlining set. With mixed reviews coming in throughout town I would just like to say that Gary Allan is one the most up and coming stars today. With his unique style he has made a footprint that isn’t going away anytime soon.
Playing hits such as Airplanes, Wrecking Ball and Songs About Rain, he kept the crowd rowdy for Kenny.
After a brief intermission the lights dimmed with the bright orange kabuki lighting up the entire stadium to reveal an amazing video display. The 9000 plus funs were on there feet the entire night. Chesney rose up from under the stage to the #1 hit Live Those Songs Again. Being the Chesnut (editor: Chesnut may be the lamest term I’ve ever heard) I am, I knew pretty much what the entire set list was going to be from reading about previous shows.
To my surprise Chesney came out after a ballad and gave us something no one expected, an impromptu set of songs that he has “never” played in a live show before. Struggling to remember the chords you knew this was going to be a special moment. I was in awe knowing that we were special enough to get such a treat. With only him and Wyatt Beard on the keyboard they went through a small set of classics including Be As You Are and The Woman With You.
This was by far the best concert I have ever been to besides the keg show I saw in Panama City Bach. It was worth every penny I spent on my tickets. It’s true what Chesney says: each year his band tries to put on a show that is crazier than the last. This was true Thursday night with a sold out crowd. If you missed out be sure to catch up with Kenny Chesney at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis September 13.
