Less Country Concerts = More Gooder

While I’m as excited as the next heterosexual male that Kenny Chesney is coming to Roberts Stadium next month, I can’t help but grow tired of the same old country, southern and 70’s rock acts that come through Evansville. This summer looks to be a bit of a departure.
Tickets go on sale next Friday for two concerts. The first features singer-songwriter Bob Dylan who will perform at Mesker Amphitheater on August 24. Tickets start at $22 for lawn seats. Also on sale Friday are tickets for the 3 Doors Down/Finger Eleven concert at Roberts Stadium on July 29. Tickets start at $39.50 for that show. I am not exactly sure how two mainstream rock acts draw a higher ticket price than a legend, but I’ll chalk it up to the bigger stadium.
Thanks C&P for the tip

I agree. The bottom line is that, like it or not, country acts draw well around here. The folks that run the stadium (SMG) and other venues are only going to bring in groups and performers that will sell tickets.

It would be really great if we would get someone good like John Mayer etc. but hell with such a crap stadium I guess we can’t expect much anymore….Eville used to get some decent acts other than the typical country yokel crap we get now…..I’m sure alot of it has to do with smg too…they probably are country fans.
