Protesters Target KFC in Evansville

Comments | Add A Comment

As we were leaving lunch this afternoon, I couldn’t help but notice the 4 girls standing in front of the KFC on Green River Road with posters and a chicken coop. Luckily we had a camera and snapped a few photos.

Click the images to get a closer view.

Update: I can only assume they got the information from PETA’s KFCruelty site. I’d love to confirm it though.

Of course it’s not good to abuse animals. (I don’t really think abusing their chickens would be in KFC’s best financial interest.) I often wonder if there is a worse abuse for the animal than to have its ultimate goal in life to be eaten. Maybe we should add big screen TV’s to their farm so that the chickens can catch the next episode of American Idol. ;)

Seriously, it’s the people who are eating fast food for every meal that we should be worried about.

i have a friend that grew up on a big chicken farm. she told me some pretty messed up stories.

however- i think its weird that people get hype on organic free range chicken farms, and then kill them to eat em anyways…

KFC buys their chicken from suppliers. They don’t raise their own chicken. I know some of their chicken comes from Tyson, but I don’t know if all of it does.

i feel like there is no reason to get all inraged over how someone kills a chicken i would like you to ask yourself a question and think hard about the answer what purpose does a chicken have on this earth besides providing food? i mean come on what else are chickens used for?

Aside from what people are saying in these comments, I’d like to point out not the fact that the poor chickens live a sad, horrible, painful life. That’s not the point. The point is that chickens are fed unnatural products and grow twice as quickly as they would grow normally. Because of this hormone, often the chicken’s weight grows more quickly than their leg muscles can develop. This condition causes their legs to buckle and become weak and leave them unable to walk. And they are basically forced to live their lives laying on a urine soaked ground. The ammonia in the urine burns their flesh and absorbs into their bodies. So, next time you are eating that piece of chicken, enjoy that faint taste of burned ammonia flesh. Yummy.
Just so you know, this isn’t some b.s. spouting from some PETA freak. This is fact.
The truth of it all is that Americans eat so much more chicken now than half a decade ago (I think the number is like 16 times as much) and it’s all basic supply and demand. In the dream world, you’d like to think of eating that happy little chicken running around on Grandpa’s farm. but the reality is that commercial chicken farms operate more like a factory than a farm with chickens inside a shed, getting no sunlight, no exercise, and even if the bedding was CONSTANTLY changed, the amount of chickens crammed into that shed pretty much guarantees them wandering around in their own waste.
I’m not a bleeding heart “oh those poor chickens!” kind of person. I just prefer not to ingest deformed, urine-burned, steroid-pumped meat. You are what you eat.

While I was at Purdue, the PETA people would bring out this giant rat each summer and slam it right in front of the PMU as their way to protest IAMS pet food.

chickens are grown that way..so are cows, pigs etc..its the way of the world today, right or wrong thats how it is……but Peta cant live along side ppl that do not believe what they believe..they throw blood on ppl that wear fur..etc…they use force, break into places….its the same ole same ole..you cannot whip someone into believing what you believe..you have to change their heart first and by throwing blood or posting old vidoes of chicken/pig/cow death camps online is just not gonna get it..

We are on top fo the food chain. Deal with it.

What about those countries that rely on chicken as their main source of food? Cheap..easy to raise. Would PETA complain there too?

Ok, we are far advanced, so we don’t have that need.
Come on…put that effort in helping your neighbors, not my dinner.

People know-a-days just have a need to bitch for whatever reason(s).
These people decide to choose the animals that provide us with nutrients.

I am a traditional guy.
If it was good for my ancestors, its good for me.

Come on people. It’s a fact of life. Pigs are raised on sewage. Egg farms have 5 chickens crammed into a cage too small for one to spread its wings. Chickens are really the perfect food animal. They DON’T exist in the wild. They were created by selective breeding. They are too stupid to know what they are used for. You want to complain? Complain about the treatment of milk cows given steroids to increase milk output and hooked into pumps 24/7 in a tiny stall too small to lie down in. Those are the facts of life. You don’t like the way animals are treated, eat a plant. But don’t eat Broccoli. It is one of the only plants to contain a nervous system and can feel pain as you eat it.

And why does everyone think that someone who cares about animals belong to PETA? They merely get the most news coverage because they are so radical. Ever hear of the Humane Society?

We should just be happy to have something to eat. Animals are raised and killed..for us. Look on the bright side, at least the chickens in the poultry factories don’t see how the chickens on my dads farm live. If hey saw that then the would be really depressed.

People Eating Tasty Animals.

I love beef, chicken, pork, fish all kinds of good things.

Hear they are trying to make KFC the state picnic food of Kentucky. YEH!

IF you don’t like it, don’t eat it.

People GOTTA eat, just like Rally’s ad says.

Read a lot about PETA KILLING animals it was supposed to save and dumping the carcasses in a dumpster belonging to some business. THEY are the ones who should be ASHAMED.
