Evansville 911
Every now and then we check the Evansville police blotter and round up the local crime stories to put a spotlight on the riff-raff of society. We call it Evansville 911.

The FBI recently released crime figures that show Evansville’s violent crime rate is up 13% from 2005 to 2006. The numbers jumped from 478 such cases in 2005 to 540 cases in 2006.

Richard Bryant of Evansville allegedly exposed himself at the Florida Tan Center on Washington Avenue Monday afternoon. Bryant walked behind the counter, fondled the worker and then whipped it out. He returned later that evening and was arrested. Bryant claims he was at the tan center to fill out a job application. Somehow, I don’t think his size is part of the application process.

Evansville police found 1.2 lbs of pot in a car during a police stop yesterday evening. No arrest has yet been made in the case. Not really sure why.

“The numbers jumped from 478 such cases in 2005 to 540 cases in 2006. That’s a difference of 62 more violent crimes.”
I’m glad to see that 14WFIE is right on with their arithmetic skills. They feel they have to subtract for the entire city? Well…they may be correct on that.
I’m amazed to see that there are actually ‘regulars’ on the Courier&Press comments sections. If you haven’t read these before, you really should, it’s great fun. Clearly, they are all fourth graders slinging terms like ‘racist pig’ and ‘bleeding heart liberals’ around. Too funny.

C&P comment threads are a treat. I read them and just have a laugh thinking that those people actually live in my city. They are also obsessed with clichés.
