Weekend Open Thread

I think last weekends open thread turned out pretty well, so let’s do it again. The goal for this is to give you an outlet to chat about whatever is on your mind with other It’s Evansville readers. If something comes up over the next few days you want to talk about, use the comments here. For example, if you want to talk about the college, professional or high school football games, do it here. I honestly don’t care. I just ask that you follow the comment guidelines and are halfway civil towards each other.
I’ll be around this weekend and will post stuff on the site if it’s interesting. Happy weekend!

My comment is the Colts “bitch slapped” the Saints last night. That was a major beat down of a pretty decent team. Arizona in February sounds nice.

Are there any discussion forums related to Evansville? I know of only one, Evansville Scene, but that is geared more towards bands and clubs.
Is there any others out there? Maybe something related to USI, or college life, but specifically for Evansville?

Not really. There’s some car forums, but nothing that’s a general Evansville forum.
I thought about putting forums on here, but it wouldn’t garner enough traffic at this point to be worth my time at this point.

Here’s an updatefrom last week about WOW/Sigecom & the Big 10 Network. WOW is still telling BTN to drop dead. Glad they are thinking of their customers.

When I lived in West Lafayette I had Insight, but thought I’d try something a little cheaper when I came down here, so I went with Sigecom/WOW … I don’t have any complaints with WOW, but for the few bucks a month I saved with them vs Insight, it wasn’t worth the significant lack in sports programming, especially now in the fall with the big-ten network and the NFL games on non-basic channels.
WOW gave me high-speed internet & basic cable (no digital, HD, BTN, etc). For around $8 more a month, Insight has faster internet than WOW, digital cable, HDTV, DVR, and the BTN channels (currently included in their standard cable lineup)
I think WOW has definitely put themselves in a bad situation by not securing a deal with the BTN, being that they are a cable provider for IL, IN, MI, and OH. With only 4 of the 11 teams in the big-10 being in the WOW region, this doesn’t look good for them yet.
