Well… That’s ONE Way to Launch a Cable Network. Wow.

If you’re fortunate enough to have DirecTV or Insight in Evansville, then you were treated to the launch of college football coverage on the Big Ten Network.

How’d it go?

Well… only what may have been the greatest upset in the history of college football.

Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32.

That’s right. A Division 1-AA football team went into one of the hardest college football venues for road teams, and in front of 109,000 opposing fans, upset an annual power.

Outstanding.

While I was at Purdue, I had a tshirt that said “Ann Arbor is a whore.” I wore it proudly.

BTN Providers. Happy customer with Dish Network, not paying the greed network-Big Ten Network or increasing cable cost. The only Satallite provider agreed to carry BTN is Direct TV and other major cable companies-Comcast,Brighthouse,Time-Warner unlikely will carry BTN for several reasons, wanting to be on standard lineup for all cable providers and increase of $7.50 to each customer. May not have BTN for Basketball season either, but still have true customer service and more channels for less than the price of any cable provider in Evansville In. Also read where Big Ten Network was doing promotional remote at Navy Pier-not far from their corporate office and many sports fans gave them a one finger salute.

I can appreciate what robert is saying, I do not like the fact that the Big 10 conference has done this to its fans. That being said I’m still glad I now have tbe Big 10 network. Call me a hypocrite I guess. It’s also hard for me to praise any cable or satallite provider in this area for not being bullied by the BTN. It’s not like big cable is out to actually better serve the customers.

I think the general consensus is that BTN sucks if you don’t have it, but if you do, everyone else is just bitching. :)

Confirm or deny: I heard that Michigan paid Application State $400,000 to come and play for the opening game of the season.

If this is wrong don’t hold it against me. Seeing if anyone else heard this as well.
