Insight Cable Picks Up Big 10 Network. Sigecom Does Not

I’ve been a pretty happy subscriber of SigecomWOW since they came to Evansville, but now I am starting to think I should move into Evansville so I can get Insight Cable as they have just picked up the Big 10 Network. The Big 10 Network is a joint venture between the Big 10 conference and Fox Sports to spotlight all athletics by schools like Purdue, IU and Illinois.
During the first week, the Indiana game is on the Big 10 Network (and in HD). The second week has the Purdue game in HD only on Big 10 and the third has IU’s game exclusively. These are games that would previously be on regional networks via ESPN Plus+.
As a die hard Boilermaker Football Fan, I am going to be without an outlet for watching many Purdue games this season. Last I checked, WOW/Sigecom is holding out on bringing on the Big 10 Network because they don’t want to put it as part of their basic cable package. I’ve called and complained to WOW tonight, and if you’re a college sports fan, I’d suggest you do as well.

I <3 my Insight. For the same price of basic cable and 4.0MBps cable at Insight I have Digital 2.0 10MBps and HDTV.

Yup, same here. No comment on the BigTen stuff, but I do love my Insight. Internet is pretty crazy fast for the price. Wish they had the 15MBit in my area, but hey, 10MBit is still really good. Even better is a full 1MBit upload. Pretty reliable connection too. I have the “regular” cable package right now, and I’m pretty pleased with the channel selection. I’ll never watch the BigTen network or whatever, but I’m glad it’s there in case i change my mind. Guess I’d probably have to go digital for all that though.

Sadly, being in Newburgh I have to choose between Sigecom and Time Warner. I had Insight in Lafayette and their service was far superior.

I am pissed at Sigecom! Come On show the freakin IU games on basic cable! IF they don’t pick up the big ten games I am going to have to change to Insight!

Well, I was planning on moving to Newburgh in the future. I currently live right on the county line (close to Epworth rd). That fact might just change my mind. I’ve watched a game in HD before, on a nice set too. I wasn’t too interested in the game, but the quality was freaking amazing. It was like the first time a I saw HDDVD in full quality at a store. I was in love, even though it was some children’s movie.

What? Why? Then make it an optional package or something. Only added at the request of the subscriber. I’m sure they could make a profit like that, right? I’m sure they have to pay to get the material. So first, they make sure they have x number of people that want it. Charge those people a little extra and make sure that the company’s costs to add the content doesn’t exceed x(extra charge). More subscribers means more money. Of course, I don’t know how much it would cost them to add a station.
