Is That a Steak Knife in Your Neck or…

When I was in high school, my younger brother would borrow my brand new sneakers just to annoy me. I’d usually yell at him for scuffing my shoes up, but that was about it. Drew Rogers allegedly sticks steak knives into the neck of those that he thinks are stealing his shoes.
Police were called to Foxfire Apartments on Rosenberger early Sunday morning where they they found the unidentified victim in the parking lot with a steak knife in his neck. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital to have the knife removed. The victim told police Drew Rogers stabbed him after accusing him of stealing his shoes.
All I can think about is the uncomfortable ambulance ride to Deaconess with a guy having a knife stuck in his neck. I’m sure it’s a real conversation starter though.
Update 2: The victim has died, which makes this story a whole lot less funny. Sympathies to the family.

Are the shoes now in foster care until the DNA tests prove who the real father is?

honestly, i don’t think you all realize how serious this was. I am a friend of Thomas’ and he nearly died. it took a miracle for him to survive. unfortunately, the article doesn’t show how serious the attack really was. Thomas didn’t just go to the hospital just fine. he was fearing for his life

I’m well aware of how serious a knife in the neck is.

this whole article is rediculous and it really pisses me off. i am also a very good friend of Thomas’ and he is in serious condition and this article is absurd. sure there was a fight that the media says was over shoes, and it actually wasnt, but the fact of the matter is that a great guy is in the hospital because somebody has an uncontrolable temper and the only thing you people can do is make jokes about it? to justin williams, the author, please get your facts straight before you write another article and consider the seriousness of the situation before you decide to poke fun at someone else’s expense.

sounds as if someone else has a temper problem.

@jeff,
Did you seriously just rant about Justin writing that article, and then use the phrase “poke fun at someone…” That’s just too funny; maybe I lead a boring life though.

Apparently this was a much more tragic situation that I originally thought. I would have never tried to make a joke out of this had I known the severity. My prayers to the friends and family… I’m amazed at how senseless this crime seems.

Unfortunately, it was a very sever crime, in which Thomas did not make it. I think that people should wait for the facts before they begin to write articles. It is a very sad day for the world has lost a very good person.

this article was very poorly written. all you could think about was the uncomfortable ambulance ride? what about his family? i was in boy scouts with thomas and he came to my birthday parties when i was little. i went through every year of school with thomas until i graduated. the fact that Thomas who had a bright future ahead of him was killed by someone who had no future over a pair of shoes isnt even the scariest thing to me. the most frightening for me to think about was the fact that i was somewhat close with the offender. i’ve taken him to mcdonalds. had lengthy conversations with him. shared car rides. I have watched someone walk up to him at a party and call him the “N” word and he did nothing at all. Just in total shock…..

Needless to say, the story is a lot less funny now that someone has died. When it was written WFIE portrayed it as a dumb argument over shoes that ended with a guy attacked with a kitchen utensil.
Would I have done anything different if I had the chance? Nope.
I have posted an update that links to the death article on Courier & Press, but I’m leaving the rest of it in tact.
