Open Thread: Best Dessert in Evansville

Anyone that tells you dessert isn’t part of the meal is a liar. I have an unhealthy addiction to ice cream, but I also enjoy the macadamia nut brownie cake at Bonefish just about as much as any dessert you can find.
I have my opinion, but I want yours as well. Where is the best place to get dessert in town and what is the dish we absolutely have to try?
Tell us in the comments.

Anything from Coldstone Creamery. Although someone will have a hissy fit that we didn’t pick a ‘local’ company.

I know that all you folks like to eat deserts at restaurants. But my favorite is my Aunt Betty Woodruff’s red velvet cake made from scratch. None of these deserts you speak of can hold a candle to it.

barky likes the bourbon walnut brownies from Maxine’s.
barky likes the lemon bars at Lorenzo’s
barky misses the dessert tamales he would order from La Marienda
barky does not like the tiramisu at Biaggi’s. it is either partially frozen or was thawed so long ago that it is falling apart.

Turtle Cheesecake at Old Chicago east side. It takes three days to make one and at $5.00 a piece it’s the cheapest decadent indulgence I have ever found.

@Buxton—Pie Pan?? I’m guessing a pie place, but where is it? It sounds delicious and I haven’t heard of it before!
And gosh, it’s so hot right now, I’m thinking about going to get some gelato from downtown….

The Pie Pan is in north park off of first ave. It is a home cooking type of restaurant with a lot of comfort type foods (chicken noodel soup, meatloaf, spaghetti, etc.) that also has a huge homemade pie list. It is a grat place to eat, although it does have an older clientele.

There used to be a Pie Pan on the East Side near the mall. I used to eat there when I was like 10.
I think it’s an aquarium store now.

Pie Pan - north on 1st Av. to North Park Shopping Center. Take the little road that runs between CVS and BBQ Shack (next to Jacob’s Pub). Pie Pan is in that strip of shopping center that is off the back of the North Park Arcade. They’ve been there since the ’70s, and like state, have an older clientele. But it’s great for the young folks too…and reasonable prices.
I love the sopapillas at El Charro (west side on Sonntag Av. down from Wessleman’s).

Cheating here…it’s not a restaurant, per se, but Great Harvest Bread Company has “Chocolate Brownie Bread” made on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and is to die for. Cut a slice, warm it up in the microwave, and top it off with some ice cream. Um…yeah…go get it.

Jenna, Vanilla Bean cheesecake at TGI Friday’s is pretty amazing.., Outback has a good one topped with raspberry or chocolate, and if you like tart, Cheeseburger in Paradise has a mango cheesecake, ask them to add chocolate or strawberries to it and it’s pretty phenomonal!

I can’t remember having any dessert in town that’s been extraordinary. I DO like the apple streudel from the Gerst Haus though.
Call me simple, but I like a plain ol’ scoop of butter pecan ice cream with a waffle cone. I’m not a big dessert eater, and when I do eat dessert I am not picky at all! Dairy Queen suffices for me.
