So Long Evansville BlueCats. We Hardly Knew Ye

5

After five seasons in Evansville, the Evansville BlueCats announced today that they will cease operations in Evansville August 24 and that the team is for sale.

Evansville BlueCats owner and President John Voliva said,

This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make but one we felt was necessary due to a variety of reasons. Hopefully, we can find a local investor willing to operate the team in Evansville. We still feel that the BlueCats offer a great entertainment choice to the residents of the Tri-State area but we are not the one to continue the operation of the team.

Each time I attended a BlueCats game, the attendance wasn’t anything impressive. This year’s 5-10 record probably didn’t do much to help attendance either. I certainly hope another local businessman picks up ownership of the team, because I think it brings a different entertainment opportunity to the town.

Why do you think the BlueCats didn’t succeed in Evansville? Do you think another local owner will pick up the team and keep it here? Tell us in the comments.

yeah not suprising i never had any intrest in going to a game, i dont even like arena football and obviously no one else did in evansville.

just one more thing for people not wanting a new stadium to praise about

I really wanted to like the bluecats but the product just wasn’t enjoyable. Cheerleaders can only go so far.

because people would rather go to a crowded, smoke-filled bar and drink and be seen?

i worked for them and the problem was they sucked in the start and they lost everyone’s interest and could never get them back even with a local coach. I hope that if someone tries again they are more successful because if you are under 21 this was just one of a very few things that you can do.

As a player for bluecats they should keep the team there nothing else really to do there. and besides that the kids love it!
