Calculate Your Walkscore

Living in a walkable area is something that is important to me as I’m starting to search for apartments in the Evansville area. As I’m on my neverending quest for housing, I’ve been using a really neat tool called Walk Score to calculate how walkable a location is by its address. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.
Just for fun I put in the It’s Evansville headquarters’s address, which scored a semi-respectable 83%. It’s pretty good compared to Burkhardt Road which scored a super lame 17%.
The results aren’t exactly perfect. For instance, it referred to The Centre as a movie house. Still, it’s a neat way to kill five minutes and you might learn about a new business that’s near you.
Happy walking!

Our house got a 43%. They listed a local convenience store as both a grocery store and a restaurant, so if that were corrected I think the score would have been even lower. Sad.
Justin,
Thanx for stopping by Inept as Icing.
This is a cool post on walk score I’ll have to do my own post about it. I’ll drop you a hat tip.
I live in Newburgh.
Walkscore: 0
I got a 54% walk score when I entered my house–but I had to question some! Like when it said Planned Parenthood was a Library…eh? Also, some things were across the highway, and I don’t know about you, but I’m not crossing 41!
I got a 49. I expected a bit higher living on the east side.
