Sorry for the absence yesterday. Here’s what you missed.
- Evansville-area residents were exposed to unhealthy levels of air pollution for more than 12 hours before officials issued an alert Thursday morning. They blame the fact that forecasting is not an exact science.
- Speaking of dirty air, we’re also the home to some of the dirtiest electric power plants. Indiana and Pennsylvania are tied for second place.
- The Alhambra Theater may receive $200,000 in federal funding for repair, restoration and upgrading of the theater.
- Showplace Cinema is converting its screens to a digital format As I said in the comments digital screens sounds exciting to me as a movie lover, but both Showplace and Stadium 16 need to improve the moviegoing experience. Charging me $10 a ticket to see a first-run movie is fine, but don’t then show me 10 minutes worth of advertisements and then the previews. I’d also like to see more independent films in town. It’s a shame I can’t go see “Talk To Me” with Don Cheadle this weekend.

I’d love to see “Talk To Me” myself, but sadly our theaters suck. And it’s about time we went digital. I’d go to the movies a lot more often if we had better ones. Oh and we need one that’s 21+ so we can buy alcohol.
