Cops Galore for Freedom Festival

Comments | Add A Comment

While it’s not New Law Sunday just yet, the Evansville Police Department has announced that it will be increasing its patrols in time for the Freedom Festival’s start this Thursday.
As you would expect, EPD officers will be on the lookout for drunk drivers starting this Thursday and running up to the 4th of July holiday next weekend.

In addition to tracking the drunks, officers will also begin heavily enforcing the new seat belt laws that go into effect Sunday. The new seat belt laws require all passengers in a car to wear their seat belts no matter where they are seated. Those in truck-plated vehicles are also now required to buckle up.

In addition to the local increase in patrol, 200 state and local law enforcement agencies are planning sobriety checkpoints throughout Indiana. If you’re going to be plastered, don’t be a dope. Call a cab. Easy enough?
