Burn This City. Burn.

Want a sign that it’s hot and dry out? There’s a lot of stuff burning, and not all of it is being lit by a disgruntled ex-wife.
Yesterday we told you about the old Folz City Boutique building burning. We here at It’s Evansville had a fond love for the building, and even featured it in a recent In Focus. The fire was put out after several trying hours by the Evansville Fire Department, but word has come today that the building will be razed within the next two weeks due to the structure being completely unsafe at this point. If you want to say goodbye to the three rainbow structures, you’ll have to do so from a distance. Police have secured the area.
There was an arrest yesterday in the weekend house fire. Yvonne Chandler is charged with starting the fire…allegedly.
Let’s not leave our Newburgh friends out of the loop. There was a barn fire on the outskirts of town. Unfortunately, the barn was located in an area where there were no available fire hydrants. Tanker trucks from Ohio Township, Yankeetown, Boonville and Elberfeld were called in to provide water. The barn was filled with farm equipment and cable wire.
And just a few miles north of Evansville, the old Emge Meat Packing plant in Fort Branch was the scene of a massive fire yesterday afternoon. The building that caught fire was filled with more than 300 bales of hay. If you’re in the hay market, that’s about $40,000 worth. Ouch.

I got some good pics of the Elmendorf building yesterday. (The multi-colored one, a.k.a. “Sesame Street.” I used to live there 2 years back. I’m glad it burned down.
