Dragons On The Ohio
If anyone complains about there not being anything interesting or unique going on in Evansville this weekend, make sure to tell them about the Dragons on the Ohio dragon boat race taking place at the downtown riverfront Friday evening and all day Saturday. A dragon boat is a long narrow boat that is commanded by a team of 20 or more competitors.
Dragons On The Ohio will begin Friday evening at 7PM in front of the Old National Bank headquarters with a waking of the dragons ceremony. The full festivities begin Saturday at 10AM with dragon boat races on the river. This year, nine teams will be competing in the races, with some traveling from as far as Iowa. The event will also include live entertainment, a beer garden and a multicultural bazaar.
I’ll be down there snapping some photos Friday and Saturday. If you’re going be sure to run up and say hello.

Sounds fun. I might possibly go. I probably won’t be able to stay long since it’s an outside event(I burn so easily!). No sunscreen can save me. Damn.
