Site Tip: Get a Comment Icon

One of the new features I’ve been testing with the site’s redesign is the use of unique commenter icons. If you’ve seen any of my comments on the site you’ll notice the little South Park character I designed for myself. You too can have this functionality for the comments you leave on It’s Evansville, and a lot of other sites around the Web.

The service I am using is called Gravatar. To get an icon, all you need to do is sign up for a regular Gravatar account with the e-mail address you use to comment on the site. You can then attach any image you want to that e-mail address. In the future, when you leave a comment on It’s Evansville, your icon will show up next to the post.

Be warned, the Gravatar site is pretty slow and down a lot, but it’s new and pretty popular, so I guess it is to be expected.
