In Other News…

Hey. How about some news?
- 3 lanes worth of traffic didn’t do one of those money saving bridges any good. All that weight caused asphalt damage, which has slowed progress by a few days.
- The bicycle helmet ordinance is on hold indefinitely thanks to the protests of common sense parents.
- More people in the state of Indiana are looking to quit smoking. Good for them.
- And for a personal gripe, how many columns can James Derk really put out about Vista working on new computers? I could write a
bettermore interesting tech column in my sleep.

That’s pretty rude what you said about James Derk. You don’t know what kind of questions he’s getting from his readers – maybe his columns fit his demand just perfectly. The problem with computer geeks like yourself is that you get all high and mighty and think that everyone should know just as much as you do about computers (or whatever else) – and if they don’t know then you act like they are stupid! Let’s see the better tech column then…. If you’re any good at it maybe you can get a real job – like James has!!!
sorry justin, my last comment was kind of rude towards you… i shouldn’t have said some of that stuff. but i really like your site – all of the posts are interesting and well written, and it’s all about evansville – my favorite town in the whole world.
your comment about james derk contained judgement and negativity that i had never seen on here before, so it kind of made me mad…
I never once said Derk was stupid. I don’t know him personally, but since he has been writing his column for over a decade, I don’t question his computer literacy.
My issue is that I believe it’s a shame that we have a local tech columnist and every single week he writes about Windows Vista working best on new computers or just does a Q&A that tries to diagnose some guy’s printer driver issue in 100 words. There’s far more interesting things that could be covered in the space.
If’d like to read samples of my writing on the Web, it’s not hard to find. Just Google around.
