Boehne Camp: Current Day Photos
When I got news from the Trespasser that the TB hospital is being renovated, I decided to make a trip out to the West side of town to see for myself. the Mills building is indeed under construction as while I was there, a worker dumped a massive pile of rubble out a window. I immediately noticed that each of the windows has new glass and trim. Many are also adorned with brand new black shutters.
I didn’t venture inside the building, but hopefully these exterior shots are interesting enough to whet your appetite for more.

Wow. Great pics! That building is looking great. It will be so nice when it’s done to see a great old building instead of a deteriorating one!

I don’t think I’d ever trust it to live there….too much bad mojo. It’s kinda neat just to leave it to myth and legend and let it be.

Good luck renting that place out. And what AREN’T people turning into condos these days? Instead of turning downtown Evansville into yuppie, central, why not make these empty buildings more accessable to small business owners so we can actually bring life to downtown rather than turning into Aztarland. Over half the buildings on the walkway are unused, and some of the ones that are being used are for stupid shit that doesn’t need to be occupying space along the walkway. Sorry, I hate to bitch but I’ve lived downtown since I moved here and I can’t think of any other city that has such a lame scene.

Aw hell no! There would be NO way someone is going to rent out a condo in a building that is known to be haunted- let alone a place where there use to be TB patients. I agree with SuperBananaBomb, down town is pretty much a ghost town- at least during the day.

I’d totally move in there if it wasn’t on the west side of town and was more upscale than most of the apartment farms in this town. Finding a nice place to rent in Evansville is nearly impossible it seems.

Heh, I’d totally live there. Chat it up with the ghosts, if they’re there. But I’m morbid like that.

I’m confused. I read online in more than one place that the Boehne Camp TB hospital was demolished in 2005.

wendy, the children’s hospital, which was part of the complex, was demolished. The Mills building still stands.

justin—why wouldn’t you live on west side?

Too much driving. My entire life is on the east side and in Newburgh.

Ok,I am highly pissed about some of the comments above. You people obviously do not understand anything about the renovation! First off, the building is not HAUNTED, so get over yourselves. The Mills Building was not the actual hospital, it was administration offices. DUH!!! So no TB patients died in there!
Seoond off, some people complained that the building should be left alone because of its history. Well, even though the building will serve a different purpose doesn’t mean it will lose the so called “myth” or history. Would you rather see it run-down or fixed-up to perserve this absoultly beautiful building? Think about that one!
They will have no problem renting the apartments out, they are going to be top of line, amazing places. So give them some credit!
I think it is a wonderful idea to renovate the building and look forward to seeing it when its completed.

A TB Hospital where no one died?? Would that be a first?
Please people!! It is not like you are going to catch TB, if that was possible, don’t cha think they would have knocked it down years ago and made sure people would stay out of it?
How can you say its not haunted? How do you really know? Have you properly investigated it? NOOOOOOPE. Don’t cha know people wanna stay in places that are haunted? People pay big bucks!
