Open Thread: Best Evansville Bar

We all have our favorite hangouts in town. Whether it be the big bar everyone goes to on Saturday night or just the small joint a few blocks from where you live that you often frequent. Use this open thread to tell everyone about your favorite bar in town.
Which bar is it? Why do you like it? What makes it unique? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

I don’t know about a bar, but the best drink in town is a Los Bravos margarita. I enjoy the bar at Bonefish Grill – it has a nice atmosphere.
My Fav. bar would have to be of couse Fast Eddy’s. Love the variety of music/bands that are there. Great service. Cheap food and beer. Atmosphere is good. You can set outside if you want or hang out inside. I have met alot of great people and friends there. LOVE IT!!!
i like baja for the simple fact that it is all outside and on the water.
as far as a place to just hangout cheeseburger in paradise is the best!
I really have never found anything I like in Evansville….though the bar at the Bonefish is pretty nice….I really think it’s about time someone open up some places like what Bloomington has–for people our age that isn’t trashy and is smoke free (a heaven sent law)
When I lived in Lafayette, I loved going to this place:
http://www.cappnginos.com/windows
It was low key, had a great cheese plate and was no smoking. Maybe if this blog takes off, I will have enough money to open something similar in Evansville. Not too sure how it’d take off though.
Capp and Ginos was a great place! They have the best wine selection, but now you can’t even get a seat on the weekends. And they don’t have cheese and crackers anymore. :( But they do have GREAT crabcakes!
For my money, Ri Ra is the best pub in town. Good beer, friendly staff.
I actually don’t mind a good glass of wine on the patio at Edgewater Grille in Newburgh. They often have live bands and it can’t get too smokey if you are outside.
YAY CAPP AND GINOS that was back in the day when EMILY, KASSIE, JUSTIN, and RYAN would go play there. Now, all West Lafayette is going to be smoke free to join CAPP and GINOS. They have the best Sex on the Beach drinks there. I also enjoy Girl Scout Cookie drinks too! I am sure Emily would agree…
Justin get your butt up here and go out with us.
Bonefish Grill…it has the best martinis in town hands down!
CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE!! BEST PINA COLADA, AWESOME MUSIC AND FRIENDLY SERVICE!
THANK YOU SAM!
I agree with Dana, best martini’s you’ll find anywhere in southern indiana and probably the surrounding kentucky/illinois areas. Lemon Drop Martini–delicious
I’m a Deerhead fan myself. They have SUPERB pizza, great menu, not to mention the hottest chili that has ever passed my lips.
And Jenna if you want to make your own lemon drop martini – here’s the best recipe ever – it ROCKS!!!
Oprah’s Lemon Drop Martini
INGREDIENTS
Mix lemon juice, sugar and vodka in a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with mint.
Unfortunately, most of the bars and hangouts around here don’t impress me too much. Most of them are too small and crowded. Smitty’s on Franklin Street isn’t too bad. Deerhead is alright too. Both places are fairly laid-back. They’re nice if you don’t like the “clubby” type of atmosphere. I just wish they were a little bigger and had more room!
Jan is right – I’ve made those martinis before. Delish! Yay for Oprah.
Ri Ra for the win: all-around best place to score some drinks/food and hang out. Next in line would be Hammerhead’s on Main, then “Blush” in the new hotel across from Ri Ra. I’ve found that restaurants are typically crud when it comes to drinks: Cheeseburger in Paradise is WAY overpriced unlike Deerhead or Turoni’s, which are both very good places in my opinion.
I think that the absolute worst “bar” in town is Fast Eddy’s, unless you prefer the overweight, middle-aged women who try to live in Cosmo magazines…then it’s awesome.
dear god Thank you Neale for writing that last sentence. So true. So hilarious.
I’ll have to make a Ri Ra’s and Blush visit, maybe Deerhead.
Been to Ham-Heads on Thursday? Yeah, there’s never any good looking “girls” at Eddys…come on!
CHEESEBURGER HAS NEW DRINK PRICED DURING THE WEEK… 1/2 OFF MOJITO’S ON MON-AND BEER SPECIALS EVERYDAY!! 1/2 OFF SANGRIA TUES, 1/2 OFF PINA, WED, 1/2 OFF MARGARITA’S(YOU GET LIKE OVER A SHOT OF TEQUILA FOR LIKE $2.00 AND A MARGARITA)THEY USUALLY GIVE BAR PATRONS A FREE APP IF YOU BECOME REGULARS.. THEY TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I have yet to find a bar that compares with Nine Irish Brothers
http://www.nineirishbrothers.com
in West Lafayette … The only bar I have ever been to where the owner does Irish Car Bombs while standing on the bar … and then gets cut off by the bartenders
Ri Ra is pretty good, and I like Fox & The Hound … I’d also like to try O’Brian’s over by the mall … anyone been there?
o’bRIAN’S USE TO BE COOL, BUT IT’S NOT SO CROWDED ANYMORE. IT’S RATHER BORING UNLESS YOU LIKE TO PLAY POOL…. OLD CHICAGO IS FUN AT NIGHT TOO!
Fox & Hound is great: lots of room, nothing brings it down save maybe location.
One of my favorite places to go drink was at Akropolis on Wednesday night for dollar drafts. Cozy for sure, but the crowd was always fun, and you felt like you knew people by the time you left.
By the way, Capp ‘N’ Gino’s is good as is 9 Irish Brothers. Also for the WL crowd, I’ve always loved the character at Jake’s…
The Gerst Haus and Ri Ra’s
I like Lamasco’s for cheap pitches and hilarious karaoke with SparkyHammerheads for a wild night out and Show Me’s for wings and dollar drafts- Best megatouch machine in town.
The Little Cheers is the best bar in Evansville. Good bands, good service and the best shots in town.
Kipplees Rocks!
Blush is the best bar in Eville. Beware of Jason English’s new Icon Bar…they severely overcharged my credit card. BEWARE!!
I’ll have to agree with Scott in that Blush is the best Evansville has to offer..Especially in the summer with the outdoor patio and fire pit. Very chill, Smoke Free, NO TRASH
HAMMERHEADS!!!!!!!!!! Hammerheads is a happening good time for some flip back to 80s…I prefer to go on a Saturday night myself…Fast Eddy’s is only fun if you’re with at leasy 6-8 people otherwise that place sucks – it’s usually overcrowded and takes FOREVER to get a drink… :)
I am still looking for a good cheeseburger and beer in Evansville. I went to Ri Ra’s and the service was slow(no checking for refills). The food took a long time to come out and when it arrived the onions had the look of being sliced the day before an left in the cooler on a plate. Two of us ordered bacon cheeseburgers. I ordered mine well and the other person order medium. They arrived with both well done, in fact a little over well. Considering the time it took to get the food we just ate it. We were on a schedule that day. If the place had been busy I may have understood but there was only one other table being served. I saw two cooks come out of the kitchen about half way through our wait. With the amount of staff I could see, and the empty dining and bar area. no excuse.
are there any like resturaunts in e-ville where you can smoke…I DON’T i just need research for a paper
only in the bars or if the restaurant is 21+ only I think is the rule
Ginny’s Place is the Best EVV has to offer.. It’s a freakin GOLD MINE!
Bonefish is pretty good. Little Cheers Bar is a dump. Went there once and I will never go back there again.
I would have to say Ri-Ra’s, Deerhead, and Fox and Hound are my favorites. Evansville does have some really shitty bars too, Fast Eddy’s being one of the worst, in my opinion. That place constantly smells like vomit because people go there to chug as much beer as they can and then can’t make it to the bathroom in time because there are so many people there, the service is slow, there’s always drunk jackasses spilling their drinks on everyone they bump into…Yeah, that place just sucks.
Its awesome that people on here are talking about Purdue bars, Boiler Up.
