East Side Review: Acapulco

For our first trip into the city to actually eat on the It’s Evansville dime, we ventured to Acapulcos’ east side location at 3339 N. Green River Road. In a town that has been dominated by Los Bravos and Hacienda, Acapulco brings a fresh flavor to Mexican food in Evansville. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is somewhat drab, especially compared to the Newburgh location which features beautiful murals on the walls.
The menu has a Yucatán flavor to it with its wide variety of choices ranging from classic favorites such as fajitas and burritos to more authentic dishes. We had a chicken chimichanga, 3 tacos and the Fajita Jalisco. All of which were delicious. The Jalisco contains shrimp, chicken and beef mixed with steamed vegetables. The portions are plentiful and the prices are some of the cheapest in town.
While I’m not a drinker myself, my semi-alcoholic friends and family can attest to Acapulco’s delicious margarita’s and draft beer. Bud Light is only 99 cents on Saturday nights. If you’re burnt out on the same Mexican restaurants that have been in town forever, drive to the other side of Green and try something new.
Acapulcos is located at 3339 N. Green River Road; (812) 475-0566).

I hope this review isn’t a portent of things to come. I have no reason to argue with the review about the food at Acapulco. My concern is that your site may be taking the typical Evansville approach (see evansville living, courier-press and the news4u) of simply saying lovely things about every restaurant in hopes that they will advertise with you. I sometimes think these media outlets are just so pleased to have a restaurant in town that they refuse to say anything critical about them. I’ve long since given up reading restaurant reviews in the local media for this reason. Please prove me wrong!

I don’t care if Acapulco advertises with us or not. I have nothing negative to say about the place because I have never had a bad dish at either of their stores in town. My only issue, as I mentioned in the piece, was the lack of decor in the place makes for a bland atmosphere, but the food is worth the trade off. I’m not going to dig for negativity when it’s not there. If I think a restaurant stinks, I have no problem trashing it.
If you’ve disagree with the review, unlike the other outlets, we let you speak freely in the comments, so challenge it.

me gusta bravos Y acapulcos! they are both delicious, just completely depending on my mood—their cooking tastes different, so it depends on what I want, plus I have favorites at each place! ie. favorite enchiladas or quesadillas at bravos, but favorite burrito and tacos at aca! mmm
