We try to focus our Extra, Extra posts on the news of the city and suburbs, but today’s seems like a special issue of Evansville 911. What is up with all the shootings and other crime in town?

• A local man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly shooting his girlfriend on Michigan St. To make matters worse, as a convicted felon he shouldn’t have even had the gun. He also shouldn’t have had it because it was stolen. Oops.
• 3 people were arrested yesterday and charged with child neglect after it was discovered that a 2-year-old, 5-month-old inside and a 16-year-old autistic girl. Officers said there was animal feces all over the floor of the house. They documented rotten food on the floor and kitchen countertop, trash strewn throughout the house, insects crawling everywhere and butcher and butter knives within reach of the small children.
• In non-crime related new, Colin Powell spoke last night at The Centre discussing topics ranging from the Iraq war to hope and optimism.
