Open Thread: What’s on Your Mind?

It’s a slow day in terms of news and events going on around town. Because of this, we’re opening the floor up to you: our readers. What’s on your mind today? What are you doing? What are you interested in? Where are you going after work or school?
Let’s discuss! Leave a comment on this post and check back later to see what other’s are up to and hopefully to build up a discussion.

Several things come to mind, probably in order:
(1) The horrible shooting at VT yesterday, horrifying and sickening
(2) How the hell is Yen Ching SO DAMN GOOD!?!?
(3) I wish Evansville would develop more local restaurants (such as Bloomington which has 2 Tibetan places, Moroccan, 2 Indian, Burmese, 2-3 Thai, several Greek, etc—on top of all the more traditional local places!) Why don’t we? Please, it is so much better than these horrid chains….

I’m trying to learn how to have fun by myself, since my best friend will be moving far away from me next weekend. :(

Does anyone except me feel as though you have to be over seventy to have something to do year-round here???? I mean in the summer there is one week (Freedom Festival) where there is actually something going on. And I mean other than a bar with karaoke on every corner that’s not what I’m talking about when I say have something to do! Evansville needs to look at Louisville and other cities we go to to have fun! Why isn’t there a decent place to eat with outside dining? Why isn’t there a decent place for outdoor concerts (where “REAL” bands will play not the fair circuits!!). But oh wait we got the LST didn’t we….mmhmmm THAT’S sure going to lure us to stay or visit here.
EVANSVILLE IS NOT FUN. Unless you’re 70. And then it’s too cold!

Dawn, I’m working on exposing more interesting things to do around town besides being a 70 year old. I do agree with you about the lack of any decent live music from national acts though. Evansville just needs the right venue.
Your frustrations are the exact reason we started this site.

Yeah, I’m 22 and I don’t like going to bars or anything… I never have anything to do but sit around at home. Grrr. It sucks!
