I Can’t Drive I-69
It seems like the I-69 debate has been going on since the day I was born, but without one piece of pavement put down: oh wait. That is true. Today comes news from Hoosier Environmental Council & The Environmental Law & Policy Center say that the highway will cost almost $4 billion dollars (queue Dr. Evil).
The opponents to the highway came to those numbers by estimating that the entire highway’s cost would increase by almost 90% because the cost of developing I-69 from Evansville to Oakland City did and then adding another $65 million to cross that money savin’ bridge from Evansville to Henderson.
Plans are still in place to start building phase 1 of the road in the summer of 2008, so hopefully I will be able to pay tolls on the road by the time I retire.
